Responsibilities
Prepare accurate, timely cost estimates based on drawings, specifications, and bid documents
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for site work, mass excavation, underground utilities, paving, and restoration
Develop and apply labor, equipment, and production rates
Solicit, review, level, and analyze subcontractor and supplier pricing
Evaluate bid documents to identify scope gaps, risks, constructability issues, and schedule impacts
Understand project logistics, sequencing, and execution requirements
Collaborate with Executive Leadership to review estimates and pricing strategies
Attend pre-bid site visits, preconstruction meetings, and client meetings
Assist Project Management and Engineering with change order pricing and proposals
Support effective handoff from estimating through project execution
Qualification
Required
5+ years of experience in Civil and Utility construction estimating
Strong knowledge of site work, earth excavation, utilities, and paving
Strong understanding of construction costs, production rates, and engineering principles
Ability to read and interpret civil plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports
Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple bids simultaneously
Knowledge of environmental or contaminated soil considerations
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in construction management or civil engineering
Experience using estimating software (HCSS HeavyBid, or similar)
