Responsibilities
Develop generic oral solid and liquid dosage formulations from bench-scale through pilot and commercial-scale submission batches
Support formulation development for tablets, capsules, and oral liquids (preferred)
Conduct extensive literature searches (patents, regulatory filings, scientific publications) to support formulation strategies
Design and develop non-infringing formulations aligned with regulatory and intellectual property considerations
Apply Quality by Design (QbD) principles in formulation and process development
Identify and evaluate critical material attributes (CMAs) and critical process parameters (CPPs)
Support process scale-up , technology transfer, and manufacturing readiness
Collaborate with analytical, quality, and regulatory teams to ensure data integrity and submission readiness
Prepare, review, and maintain technical documentation , development reports, and protocols
Proactively suggest process improvements and operational efficiencies within the department
Assist in revising and maintaining SOPs, operating procedures, and controlled documents
Recommend new equipment, tools, or technical training to strengthen departmental capabilities
Support internal audits, investigations, and regulatory-readiness activities as needed
Qualification
Required
PhD in Pharmaceutics (Master's degree candidates will not be considered)
1–3 years of industrial experience in generic pharmaceutical formulation and process development
Demonstrated experience developing oral solid dosage forms from bench scale to submission batch manufacture
Strong working knowledge of pharmaceutics and dosage form design
Strong working knowledge of pharmacokinetics and bioavailability considerations
Strong working knowledge of process development and scale-up
Strong working knowledge of QbD principles in generic product development
Experience working with DEA-controlled substances and familiarity with applicable regulations
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional technical teams
Preferred
Support formulation development for tablets, capsules, and oral liquids
Local candidates preferred (New Jersey / Northeast U.S.)
