Start in 2026 SummerSouthern States LLC is seeking an EHS Specialist Intern to support their Environmental, Health, and Safety team. The role involves assisting with job safety analyses and PPE assessments while gaining hands-on experience in workplace safety and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities
Support the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team by assisting with the completion of the company-wide annual Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Assessments
Observing job tasks
Identifying workplace hazards
Documenting findings
Verifying appropriate PPE requirements across multiple departments
Collaborating with supervisors and employees to gather accurate information
Ensuring assessments align with regulatory and company standards
Maintaining organized safety documentation
Completing all JSA’s and PPE Assessments for all production processes, Warehouse and Receiving, Fabrication Shop, Shipping
Services interpretation of customer specification and requirements, and production processes
Qualification
Required
Currently enrolled in a degree program related to Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field
Completed at least one introductory safety-related course (e.g., workplace safety, industrial safety, hazard recognition, or similar)
Basic knowledge of hazard identification and risk assessment principles
Ability to clearly document observations and prepare written safety analyses
Effective verbal communication skills to interact with employees, supervisors, and safety staff
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word and Excel or equivalent tools
Ability to follow established procedures, safety policies, and confidentiality requirements
Willingness and ability to observe job tasks in operational environments while complying with all safety rules
