Responsibilities

Lead daily cash oversight and forecasting; recommend and monitor cash management policies, procedures, and controls to ensure liquidity and compliance with accounting standards and regulations
Oversee the integrity of financial data within the ERP and reporting systems, identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance automation, accuracy, and efficiency
Partner with the Controller and Finance leadership to implement new ERP modules and related workflows, ensuring successful integration of accounting, reporting, and budget functions
Develop, prepare, and analyze financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with established accounting standards
Lead the development and coordination of the annual agency budget; collaborate with program leaders to prepare income and expense projections and provide variance analysis and recommendations
Provide financial support for grants and contracts, including budget development, monitoring, and preparation of reports for funders and auditors
Review and approve reconciliations, journal entries, and adjustments prepared by accounting staff, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and proper documentation
Guide the preparation, documentation, and coordination of annual financial audits; serve as a primary contact for auditors and ensure timely resolution of findings
Approve the creation and updates of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls; ensure alignment with standard accounting practices, agency policy, and regulatory requirements
Conduct technical accounting research and prepare supporting documentation for complex transactions, ensuring compliance with applicable standards
Develop and maintain financial metrics, dashboards, and business-intelligence reporting tools to support leadership decision-making
Coordinate with internal departments and payroll teams to ensure accurate financial data related to payroll, benefits, and grants
Support process training and documentation for staff involved in accounting and reporting activities; identify ongoing learning needs related to new systems or procedures

Required

Demonstrated expertise in accounting, financial reporting, and audit preparation, with strong working knowledge of accounting standards and internal control frameworks
Proven ability to manage complex financial data, analyze variances, and present clear, accurate financial information to leadership
Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics GP, Management Reporter, and advanced Excel functions; experience supporting or implementing ERP system enhancements preferred
Strong quantitative and analytical skills with attention to accuracy, consistency, and documentation integrity
Excellent organizational and time-management skills; ability to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
High ethical standards and ability to handle confidential information responsibly
Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners
Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and process efficiency
Must meet DCFS/CANTS Clearance Requirements
Must be at least 21 years of age
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and maintain proof of automobile insurance
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master's degree preferred
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required
Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience, including financial reporting and audit preparation in accordance with accounting standards and regulations
Experience in budget development, financial analysis, and technical accounting research
Proven ability to interpret and apply accounting standards to complex transactions
Experience implementing or supporting ERP system processes and optimizing reporting workflows

Preferred

Experience supporting or implementing ERP system enhancements preferred
Nonprofit accounting experience preferred, including familiarity with grant management, fee-for-service models, and state and federal funding compliance
