Government Affairs Specialist

Warner Norcross + Judd is a full-service corporate law firm seeking a Government Affairs Specialist to join their Lansing office. This role involves supporting the governmental affairs team by managing meetings, developing relationships with legislative staff, and assisting with various administrative tasks to ensure smooth operations.

Legal

Responsibilities

Work with the firm's governmental affairs team to schedule meetings and host events with legislators and departments officials
Develop and maintain relationships with legislative scheduling staff, including key departmental scheduling staff to assist the firm's governmental affairs team with quick access to meetings
Work with SOS systems and FEC to file campaign finance and lobby reports for the firm and clients
Participate in governmental affairs team meetings and legislative committee hearings to assist with transcription as needed
Work in cooperation with the firm's governmental affairs team and marketing team to track legislation and create legislative summaries for internal and external use
Responsible for PAC filing, and lobbying reports
Prepare and proofread correspondence, memos, forms, and other documents in proper form, ranging from simple to very complex while fully utilizing firm technology
Support client "lobby days" by coordinating logistics between clients, legislators, and internal stakeholders, including scheduling meetings and organizing events
Support the integration of AI tools into governmental affairs workflows to improve efficiency
Assist with special events and initiatives aligned with firm culture and community engagement
Perform select project-based governmental affairs support work in a legal assistant or paralegal-support capacity, which may be billable in accordance with firm guidelines and client requirements
Act as the Lansing Office Manager by performing additional administrative tasks and working closely with the Regional Office Administrator to ensure that the office runs smoothly

Required

Associates degree or equivalent experience
Event planning and organization experience
Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite
