IACUC Manager-Research Compliance

The University of Tennessee Health Science Center is seeking an IACUC Manager to oversee the regulatory and compliance component of their Animal Care and Use Program. This role includes managing the Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee (IACUC) and ensuring compliance with federal regulations and institutional policies.

Responsibilities

Receives, reviews, and processes all Animal Use Protocols for completeness prior to committee review; organizes submissions for efficient review
Plans, prepares, and distributes IACUC agendas and review materials; oversees recording, editing, and approval of meeting minutes to ensure accurate documentation of IACUC actions
Drafts accurate, timely IACUC correspondence and regulatory reports, including non-compliance reports to university administration, external sponsors, and federal oversight agencies
Advises investigators on compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures related to animal research
Coordinates and participates in semi-annual facility and laboratory inspections and assists with program evaluations
Leads the development and implementation of IACUC policies, review processes, and online submission systems
Facilitates education for IACUC members, investigators, and research staff; manages required online learning programs
Serves as an institutional resource on animal care and use; fosters collaboration and compliance between the research community, IACUC, and LACU
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's Degree. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
Seven (7) years of experience in compliance and administration that includes animal care and use-related responsibilities; OR a combination of education and experience to equal eleven (11) years
Ability to read and proof documents for accuracy
Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively and proactively
Ability to analyze information critically to make informed decisions
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of regulations and guidelines related to the use of animals in biomedical research is required
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, with adherence to strict deadlines
