Advocacy & Resource Coordinator
The Midland Chamber of Commerce is a nonprofit membership-based organization that supports the interests of its members. The Advocacy & Resource Coordinator serves as a front-line connector for members and partners, supporting the Chamber’s advocacy efforts and coordinating resources that deliver value to members.

Responsibilities
Support the Chamber’s advocacy efforts by advancing the execution of advocacy strategies under the direction of the VP of Chamber Relations and President & CEO
Monitor local, state, and federal public policy issues and track legislative and administrative activities impacting the business community and prepare summaries, briefings, and background materials
Support member engagement in advocacy efforts through survey, roundtables, 1:1 and grassroots outreach, communications, and calls-to-action
Assist in the planning and execution of advocacy initiatives, including legislative visits, policy forums, and events, including Legislative Days and Washington Fly-in
Cultivate and help maintain relationships with elected officials and staff, businesses, nonprofits, and other organizations
Develop business resourcing events and programs to support members, including but not limited to trainings, roundtables and seminars, in coordination with the Director of Events and VP of Chamber Relations. These events and programs may include collaborations with external partners
Develop and execute workforce, economic development, and community development initiatives
Potential to create, develop and standup additional programs
Maintain online resources and keep content current
Staff Chamber events (early mornings/evenings as needed) and provide elevated customer service
Fundraising, member sales, and other efforts supporting the financial wellbeing of the Chamber
Serve as liaison and support for programs, leadership groups, and committees, such as Government Affairs and Education, and other task forces
Draft copy for newsletters, website posts, event scripts, and social media posts, in coordination with the Marketing Coordinator and VP of Chamber Relations
Serve as back-up support for answering phones and welcoming office visitors, as needed
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
3+ years' experience in public policy, government affairs, economic development, workforce, small‑business services, chamber/association work, or program management; nonprofit or chamber experience is a plus
Bachelor's degree preferred. Relevant degrees may be considered in lieu of experience
Valid Texas driver's license required
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to read, analyze, interpret and draft clear reports, policies, and business correspondence
Comfortable presenting information to groups including members, board members, staff, and the public
Ability to understand and apply concepts equivalent to at least high school-level math
Exceptional organizational and time-management skills
Demonstrated ability to manage confidential information with discretion
Ability to participate in a collaborative team environment
Strong conflict resolution, listening, and interpersonal skills
Professional appearance and demeanor are required
Preferred
Bachelor's degree preferred. Relevant degrees may be considered in lieu of experience
