The Director of SOX Compliance & Internal Controls will lead the design and operation of the Company’s Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) program, establishing a sustainable framework that meets required standards and aligns with business operations.

Responsibilities
Design, implement, and oversee the Company’s SOX compliance framework in alignment with COSO and PCAOB expectations
Perform scoping and risk assessments to identify key processes, risks, and controls with a focus on materiality
Lead documentation efforts, including narratives, RCMs, process flows, and testing support
Conduct or coordinate walkthroughs, control design evaluations, and readiness activities
Work directly with process owners across Finance, Underwriting, Claims, IT, and Operations to ensure controls are well-designed, practical, and embedded into daily operations
Serve as a primary point of contact for external auditors and SOX advisors to ensure clear communication and timely deliverables
Coordinate SOX testing activities, leveraging external resources as appropriate while building internal capabilities
Track, validate, and support remediation of control deficiencies
Provide regular SOX program updates to senior management and the Audit Committee
Maintain an organized repository of all SOX documentation and testing support
Monitor regulatory and PCAOB developments relevant to internal controls and financial reporting
Support the continued strengthening of internal controls, documentation, and reporting practices across the organization
Assist in the development and refinement of internal control standards and practices
Promote consistency, clarity, and accountability in the Company’s control activities
Support process owners in aligning control design with operational and reporting requirements
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
CPA, CIA, CISA, or similar certification strongly preferred
7+ years of experience in SOX compliance, internal controls, internal audit, or external audit
Property & Casualty insurance industry experience required (E&S experience strongly preferred)
Strong understanding of SOX 404(a) and 404(b) readiness requirements
Experience supporting SOX programs in public or newly public environments
Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with senior leaders and control owners
Ability to exercise balanced judgment, focusing on relevant risks and practical solutions
Preferred
CPA, CIA, CISA, or similar certification strongly preferred
Property & Casualty insurance industry experience required (E&S experience strongly preferred)
