The N.C. Department of Information Technology is looking for a Science Teacher to work at the Edgecombe Youth Development Center. The teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering science lessons to students in grades 6-12, ensuring that all students succeed through engaging and appropriate educational activities.

Responsibilities

Planning lessons based on the NC Standards and student’s individual learning needs
Ensuring success with all students while providing appropriate and engaging activities to teach concepts
Providing research-based strategies and interventions to provide an appropriate education for all students
Utilizing data to inform all instructional activities based on NC Standards
Implementing IEPs
Keeping all student records
Serving as a member of the interdisciplinary team in order to plan for student services and treatment
Keeping all student records, exceptional children's program and other paperwork, and student progress up to date

Qualification

North Carolina teacher licenseScience teaching certificationLesson planningBehavioral management techniquesData-informed instructionInterdisciplinary teamworkResearch-based strategiesIEP implementation

Required

The candidate must possess a valid North Carolina teacher license, 'A' or 'M', with teaching certification in the area of Science (middle school) or Science (high school) or be eligible for a NC Teacher License through an alternative licensing pathway offered by NCDPI
The successful candidate must also have a four year college degree from an accredited post-secondary education institution

Preferred

Experience providing effective instruction to meet the needs of students with diverse needs
Experience in creating a safe environment for students utilizing behavioral management techniques
Experience in creating lessons that coincide with Common Core State Standards and NC Essential Skills in order to improve student achievement
