Director of Human Resources

Landings Real Estate Group is a multi-site property management and hospitality portfolio seeking a Human Resources Director. This senior-level HR leader will be responsible for leading and improving all core HR functions, including employee relations, compliance, payroll, and talent acquisition support.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary HR and HRIS point of contact for a multi-state, multi-entity property management and hospitality portfolio
Act as a senior HR advisor to executives, regional leaders, property managers, and employees on all HR matters
Lead employee relations activities, including investigations, disciplinary actions, documentation, and conflict resolution
Develop, implement, and maintain consistent HR policies and practices across all locations
Partner with executive leadership on performance management, compensation review cycles, workforce planning, and organizational changes
Supervise and support the Talent Acquisition Specialist
Champion employee engagement and workplace culture initiatives aligned with company values
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws across RI, MA, CT, NY, and FL
Monitor regulatory changes and update policies, procedures, and practices accordingly
Maintain confidential personnel files, I-9 documentation, and HRIS records in compliance with retention requirements
Support audits related to payroll, benefits, workers’ compensation, unemployment, and regulatory compliance
Administer unemployment claims, employment verifications, and wage verification requests
Interpret and enforce wage and hour, overtime, on-call pay, and related compensation policies
Oversee accurate and timely multi-state payroll administration, ensuring wage and hour compliance
Serve as the primary payroll and benefits resource for onsite and corporate teams
Administer employee benefit programs, including health, welfare, retirement, and leave programs
Lead annual open enrollment planning, execution, and post-enrollment audits
Serve as the sole administrator for the 401(k) plan, wage garnishments, ACA tracking, and payroll deductions
Manage leaves of absence, including FMLA, state paid family and medical leave programs, ADA accommodations, and workers’ compensation claims
Reconcile benefits invoices and coordinate with accounting for accurate cost allocation
Act as system administrator and subject matter expert for HRIS, payroll, timekeeping, benefits, ATS, and performance management platforms
Generate standard and ad hoc HR reports
Identify process gaps and implement system and technology improvements to enhance efficiency and compliance
Partner with executive leadership, hiring managers, and Talent Acquisition to support full-cycle recruiting across property management and hospitality roles
Coordinate pre-employment screening, onboarding, and new hire orientation across multiple locations and states
Ensure a positive candidate and new hire experience from offer through onboarding

Required

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required
3–5 years of progressive HR Generalist or HR leadership experience; multi-state experience strongly preferred
2+ years of hands-on, multi-state payroll experience; ADP Workforce Now experience strongly preferred
Strong working knowledge of federal and state employment laws, particularly across RI, MA, CT, NY, and FL
Advanced expertise with ADP Workforce Now (payroll, timekeeping, benefits, reporting, ATS)
Exceptional organizational, analytical, and attention-to-detail skills, particularly in payroll and HR data management
Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, operational environment
Strong communication, documentation, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills
High level of professionalism, discretion, emotional intelligence, and ethical judgment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Preferred

Multi-state experience strongly preferred
Experience supporting hourly, non-exempt workforces in property management or hospitality environments preferred
Certifications (Preferred): SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR
