Responsibilities

Represent Sandia National Laboratories on joint working groups with external stakeholders (missile contractors, Department of Defense (DoD), NNSA)
Oversee and provide guidance to other SNL members on the Project Officer Group (POG) working groups. Active subgroups include: Requirements working group (RWG), Joint Evaluation & Qualification working group (JEQWG), and the Quality Assurance & Reliability working group (QARWG)
Participate in the development of the Missile-Warhead Interface Control Document
Provide strategic direction, and develop tactical execution plans for joint system testing, in coordination with the Sandia Joint Test and JTA teams
Provide briefings to different levels of management and program partners
Problem-solving with multidisciplinary teams across the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE)
Close interaction with key individuals across the W80-5, NNSA, partner Design Agency Labs, and DOE Production Agencies
Provide technical consultations on critical design elements

Required

A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and five (5) years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of directly relevant education and engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development
Ability and willingness to travel up to 50%
Active DOE Q-level security clearance

Preferred

Graduate degree in Engineering or a highly related field where an independent research project was a graduation requirement (e.g., independent project, thesis, or dissertation)
Experience working with Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE) laboratories and plants including Pantex, Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC), Lawrence Livermore Laboratory (LLNL) and Kansas City National Security Campus/New Mexico Operations (KCNSC/NMO)
Experience working on engineering design, qualification, production, or related modeling/simulation projects
Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
Master's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline plus 6 years of relevant experience; or Bachelor's in a STEM discipline plus 10 years of relevant experience
Strong commitment to quality, safety, collaboration, and teamwork
Demonstrated experience in developing positive relationships with other Sandia organizations, external partners, customers, and stakeholders
Demonstrated team experience: effective leadership, delegation, teamwork, negotiation, conflict resolution
Demonstrated experience developing and implementing system engineering processes
Knowledge and experience with ND systems and subsystems
Experience working with DoD and associated contractors
Demonstrated ability to develop products within the Nuclear Weapon Realize Product Subsystem
Excellent communication skills including the ability to prepare clearly written reports and deliver well-articulated briefings
