Software Safety Engineer (Associate or Mid-Level)

The Boeing Company is seeking a Software Safety Engineer to join their Sustainment and Modernization team in Berkeley, Missouri. This role involves supporting hardware and software change reviews, conducting safety assessments, and maintaining the Aviation Critical Safety Item list, all aimed at enhancing safety in aerospace engineering.

Responsibilities

Support hardware and software change reviews
Provide support for our internal software certification process
Perform hazard tracking and risk resolution via System/Subsystem Hazard Analysis
Conduct safety assessments and technical safety memos, including: Engineering Review Boards, Enhancement Projects, address aircraft safety concerns, and track safety critical items
Maintenance and development of Aviation Critical Safety Item (ACSI) list
Support System Safety Working Groups
Support fleet incidents and mishap investigations
Be comfortable briefing all levels of management, program office, and USAF personnel
Support the F-22 for any and all aircraft/software safety concerns

Required

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
2+ years of experience with software certification processes and standards, such as DO-178C or similar, and experience supporting internal software certification activities
Experience with strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively brief and collaborate with various stakeholders, including management, program offices, and military personnel
Experience with strong analytical skills to evaluate complex systems and identify potential safety issues

Preferred

5+ years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Active Security Clearance
Experience working effectively in a team environment
Strong commitment to innovation and a proven track record of achieving success
