The Boeing Company is excited to offer opportunities for a Milling Machine Operator to join their team in Portland, Oregon. In this role, you will be integral to machining operations, ensuring quality and safety standards while setting up and operating various milling machines.

Responsibilities

Set up, operate, and adjust various types of conventional and numerically controlled milling machines to perform machining operations

Utilize various control media, program documents, holding fixtures, and cutting tools to machine components according to quality requirements and specifications

Make machine setups for operations such as drilling, boring, face milling, and slotting

Interpret information from drawings, documents, sketches, and verbal instructions to guide machining processes

Apply shop mathematics, including trigonometry, using charts, tables, and handbook formulas as needed

Select and secure appropriate tools, fixtures, and equipment to efficiently complete assigned work

Mount and check cutting tools in holders, ensuring proper loading in machine magazines or spindles

Inspect parts and cutting tools for conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments and create precision checking fixtures as required

Sequence and layout work, performing necessary bench work to finish parts to quality specifications

Adjust machine settings during machining cycles and install various cutting tools as authorized to achieve desired results

Manage the feed of oils and coolants during operations and lay out single-plane profile templates when necessary

Prepare and adjust machines to ensure proper operation, assisting planners or programmers in determining final numerical control programs as needed

Establish and adjust machine speed, feed, and depth of cut to optimize utilization and minimize setups

Initiate corrective action requests for machine malfunctions and detect faulty tools, taking appropriate corrective measures

Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to quality standards

Required

Understand Statistical Process Control (SPC) applications and interpretation of statistical results, as required

Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously

3+ years of experience operating a CNC machine i.e. CNC rivet machine, or CNC milling machine

1+ years of experience using Precision Measuring Tools

1+ years of experience reading and interpreting blueprint and/or drawings

Preferred

5 + years of experience operating a CNC machine i.e. CNC rivet machine, or CNC milling machine
