Day shift or Night Shift Mechanical Production Engineer Level 4
Northrop Grumman is a trusted provider of mission-enabling solutions for global security, and they are seeking a Mechanical Production Engineer Level 4 to participate in the development and support of steam turbine and gearbox designs for naval propulsion systems. The role involves applying engineering principles to design components, conducting evaluations, and supporting the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities
Participate in the development and ongoing support of new and existing steam turbine and gearbox designs used in surface ship and submarine propulsion and power generation systems of the US Navy
Apply engineering principles and industry practice in the design of assigned turbine and gear components and subsystems
Develop design concepts and repair solutions, perform trade studies, and conduct supporting evaluations and analyses
Participate in detail design, drawing development, design reviews, release for manufacture, and follow through test and production phases
Prepare and present formal technical briefings as required
Focus on rotating machinery design and general design engineering, including ship and submarine propulsion and power generation systems involving steam turbines, gearboxes and generator sets
Develop new designs from concept, through detailed design, manufacture and test phases
Support manufacturing activities on existing production contracts
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) discipline with 8 years experience; or a Master's of Science Degree in a STEM discipline with 6 years' experience
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret level security clearance
US Citizenship required
Computer skills developing designs using solid modeling software, such as CREO/NX is required
A working knowledge of ANSI Y14.5 drawing standards and geometric tolerance is also necessary
Must be fluent in mechanical engineering principles, and must be proficient in developing design concepts, performing trades-studies, and conducting supporting evaluations and analyses
Required to work one of two Day Shifts: 6 AM onsite through 4 PM onsite Monday through Thursday (4/10s), OR 6 am onsite through 6 pm onsite Friday through Sunday (3/12's)
Preferred
Master's Degree in Engineering Discipline
Knowledge in GD&T and solid modeling NX
Experience in rotating machinery
Experience in turbo-machinery
