VP of ESTIMATING - Heavy Highway - Civil

Peterson Consulting is seeking a VP of Estimating to oversee and manage all functions of the estimating department for heavy highway and civil projects. Responsibilities

Oversee and manage all functions of the estimating department, including hard bids, negotiated work, CMAR/CMGC, and design-build pursuits up to $500M
Lead, mentor, and develop the estimating team; ensure alignment with project and organizational goals
Conduct bid strategy reviews, maintain the bid calendar, and lead team meetings throughout the bid cycle
Provide executive oversight on bid day, reviewing subcontractor/vendor quotes and determining competitive pricing strategies
Collaborate closely with project managers, operations, field teams, and executive leadership to ensure accurate project handoff and seamless execution
Participate in business development efforts and maintain strong client, subcontractor, and vendor relationships
Perform and review quantity takeoffs, evaluate bid instructions, project plans, specifications, and all related bid documents
Analyze bid opportunities, attend pre-bid meetings, job walks, and validate overall project scopes
Correctly interpret drawings, specifications, addenda, geotechnical reports, and construction documents
Apply historical production rates, equipment utilization, and material pricing to build accurate and competitive estimates
Develop detailed proposals and participate in post-bid processes including buyouts, value engineering, and pricing reviews
Ensure compliance with construction management standards, safety requirements, and company best practices
Support technical writing for proposals, scopes, and project documentation
