Mission Technologies, a division of HII, is seeking an Engineering Technician 4 to join their Nuclear Propulsion Division in Newport News, VA. The role involves providing technical support to engineers, maintaining and manipulating technical data, and producing engineering documentation and reports.

Responsibilities

Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks
Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes
Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics)
Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data
Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports
May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis

Required

Associates Degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 6 years related experience or High School Diploma or equivalent and 8 years related experience
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance
Candidate must be a U.S. citizen
Candidate must have prior Navy nuclear propulsion experience, Department of Energy or commercial nuclear power experience

Preferred

Experience in a skilled trade or a specialized technical role within a high-consequence environment is highly preferred
Shipyard or US Navy A4W or S9G propulsion and/or reactor plant construction, operation, and/or maintenance experience
Working knowledge of shipyard work controls processes to include proficiency with Electronic Shift Operating Management System (eSOMS)
Active Confidential DOD Security Clearance
