Development Associate (Part-time/Temporary)

The New York Public Library is seeking a Development Associate to assist with administrative tasks in their Development Department, which raises funds from private sources. The role involves customer service, managing fundraising data, and providing support for events, making it essential for the success of fundraising efforts.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to members by answering telephone and email inquiries
Prepare mailing lists and invitations, maintaining up-to-date fundraising data in the database, coordinating meetings and events, performing research on donors and prospects, composing agendas and correspondence, processing RSVPs, and managing event web page updates
Process gifts and prepare acknowledgement letters for event and individual giving contributions in a timely manner
Coordinate the merging and mailing of solicitation letters and other donor communications
Manage event calendars, oversee staffing needs and responsibilities for events, create memoranda for Senior leadership in advance of events
Provide support at other Development events
Perform other related duties as required

Required

Bachelor's Degree required
Internship and/or 1 year of work experience
Strong project management skills and able to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders
High degree of initiative, organization, and follow-through
Responsible self-starter and able to work independently
Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent computer skills including MS Word and Excel
Lifting up to 40 lbs. required
May require travel within NYC
