Responsibilities

Assess tissue adequacy for testing
Perform automated immunohistochemical staining
Operate and maintain automated IHC stainers (Agilent/Dako, Leica)
Prepare reagents, antibodies, buffers, and controls
Perform antibody optimization, validation, and troubleshooting
Perform quality control checks on materials produced
Complete equipment maintenance and QC logs
Develop problem-solving skills—determining causes of operating errors and deciding corrective course of action
Controlling operations of equipment and systems
Monitor and assess performance of self to make improvements or take corrective action
Assist in Lab for other duties as assigned
Practice safe work procedures while performing job duties
Periodically review of work product for compliance with standard operating procedures and applicable workload limits
Maintenance of Lab logs and tracking sheets
Other duties as assigned

Qualification

Histology-specific skillsLaboratory Technical skillsAutomated IHC stainingEquipment maintenanceProficient in MS WordQuality control checksSafe work proceduresProblem-solving skills

Required

Bachelor's or Associates degree from a four or two year-college or university with at least 12 semester hours biology and chemistry
Certification eligible
Histology-specific and Laboratory Technical skills
Proficient in MS Word
Eligible to sit for the National HT/HTL exam after 1 year of employment
All SOPs must be followed
Any discrepancies, errors and/or deviation from the SOPs or Policies must be reported to the Lab Director, Lab Manager, Admin Lead and/or Section Lead
Laboratory Standards for Clinical testing must be maintained

Preferred

2 years of lab experience but not required
