Technical Sales Representative - Michigan

Responsibilities
Develop and execute strategic plans to build a robust pipeline of commercial solar leads through networking, marketing, and independent prospecting
Conduct financial analysis of customers’ energy consumption and effectively communicate the value and return on investment of solar energy solutions, including cash, PPA, and leasing options
Present and explain preliminary and formal project designs, cash flow projections, financing methods, and project feasibility to clients
Read and interpret single-line electrical diagrams and identify equipment applicable to commercial-grade electrical systems
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of utility rate structures, rebates, incentives, and regulations affecting solar projects at local, state, and federal levels
Build lasting customer relationships through prompt follow-up, attentive service, and clear communication to foster satisfaction and future referrals
Attend industry events, trade shows, webinars, and community meetings to expand presence and network within the solar industry
Collaborate across departments to ensure project success from proposal through installation and system operation
Represent the company professionally as an ambassador of our vision for renewable energy and sustainability
Maintain detailed records of customer interactions within CRM, ensuring accuracy and comprehensive follow-up
Other related duties as assigned to support team and company growth
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED required
A minimum of 5+ years of technical sales experience, preferably in power systems or renewable energy
At least 2+ years of experience specifically in commercial solar sales
Valid State Driver's License and willingness to travel up to 80% of time, including occasional overnight stays
Strong understanding of electrical systems, including three-phase power and medium voltage concepts
Knowledge of utility rate structures, incentives, and financing options for solar projects
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively
Proven ability to manage multiple projects, demonstrate negotiation skills, and work independently as well as part of a team
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with design software; willingness to learn industry-specific tools
Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds as needed, and work in outdoor construction environments
Willingness to work flexible hours outside of typical business times to meet customer needs
