Staff Development RN

Tennessee State Veterans' Homes is recognized for its commitment to serving veterans and is currently seeking an experienced RN Staff Development Coordinator. This role is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs for nursing staff to enhance professional development and patient care.

Responsibilities

Assess the learning needs of nursing staff through surveys, interviews, and observations
Develop and implement effective educational programs, workshops, and in-service training sessions based on identified needs
Collaborate with nursing management team to determine department-specific training requirements
Coordinate and facilitate orientation training programs for new nursing staff and other staff members
Provide ongoing education and training to promote continuous professional development
Stay current on advancements in nursing practice, regulations, and standards
Evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs and modify as needed
Maintain accurate records of staff development activities and participation
Collaborate with nursing leadership to identify and address performance improvement opportunities
Supporting clinical operations as needs arise – including assisting with residents, participating in admissions and discharges, providing direct patient care as needed
Serve as a mentor and resource for nursing staff
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and committees

Required

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Tennessee
Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field required; master's degree preferred
Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience with proven expertise in staff development and education
Strong knowledge of nursing standards, laws, and regulations
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
Proficient in the use of technology and various computer programs/systems

Preferred

Master's degree in nursing or related field
