Manager, Grants & Special Projects

NeighborWorks America is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to creating opportunities in communities. The Manager, Grants and Special Projects will develop and manage innovative grant programs and projects that support the National Homeownership Programs & Lending department, collaborating with various teams to align project goals and evaluate outcomes.

Responsibilities

Support and lead project management and planning to assist the NHPL department to launch new projects, grants, pilots, and capacity-building programs. This includes closely collaborating with the Homeownership, Financial Capacity, Single Family Lending, and Sustainable Business Initiatives teams to understand, define, and align project goals and objectives, develop and monitor workplans, and assess, document, and share outcomes
Lead and/or contribute to programmatic and pilot grant and funding proposals to support and align across all NHPL teams
Provide project management for the design and administration of NHPL grant opportunities. This includes design grant applications, manage subgrantee selection processes, support fund disbursements, lead and support grant implementation, and monitor, report on, and wind down funded activities. Collaborate cross-divisionally with Field, Resource Development, Training, and Corporate Strategy & Impact and others to support this work through these stages and ensure alignment with NHPL with our network needs, network data, and corporate capacity
Provide project management for technical assistance, training, and peer-learning programs aimed at assisting NeighborWorks network organizations in developing or refining their related strategies
Work across the NHPL team and with other divisions to collect and analyze data that demonstrates the scale, depth, and impact of affordable homeownership, financial capability, single family lending, and organizational sustainability efforts across the NeighborWorks network
Conduct program assessments and track program outcomes to suggest ways to improve future NHPL offerings
Conduct, direct, and present research and data analyses to document emerging trends affecting programs within NHPL and identify promising models and best practices that can be replicated across the NeighborWorks network
Assist in the development of case studies and toolkits to improve practice and promote the leadership of NeighborWorks America and the NeighborWorks network in advance NHPL programs
Update the NHPL team on key trends in areas including affordable homeownership, housing counseling, financial capability, single family lending, and organizational sustainability
Serve as project manager for a variety of special projects related to NHPL programs and conduct other job-related duties as required to advance the goals and objectives of NHPL, National Initiatives, NeighborWorks America, and the NeighborWorks network

Required

College level degree and or equivalent relevant work experience
Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible experience in program or project management, grant administration, or related fields, with at least 2 years in a role involving direct project management responsibilities
Experience in housing, community development, nonprofit management, or related sectors is highly desirable
Passion for and dedication to innovative programs for affordable homeownership, housing counseling, financial capability, single family lending, organizational sustainability and/or related wealth building and community development fields
Knowledge of and experience with innovative programs for affordable homeownership, housing counseling, financial capability, single family lending, organizational sustainability and/or related wealth building and community development fields
Demonstrated experience in project management, including designing and directing grants, pilot programs, technical assistance, webinars and training efforts
Demonstrated experience in development and delivery of presentations, including in-person and through online platforms e.g. Zoom, Teams, or other virtual platforms
Ability to prioritize, plan, organize and carry out multiple assignments in a fast-paced work environment
Ability to lead and complete tasks on-time and with minimum supervision in a remote environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Exceptional writing skills, including experience developing and contributing to publication and online content
Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including demonstrated experience conducting research and analyses in current innovations in the housing and community development fields
Experience of effective management of contractors or consultants
Ability to work and engage with staff and organizations serving varying markets, e.g. urban, rural, local and nationwide
Display strong and strategic professional decision-making skills
Demonstrated commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom/webinar and Teams applications
