Responsibilities

Evaluate and benchmark existing imaging processing algorithms and pipeline performance. Identify root cause of IQ issues and solution space constraints
Design, implement and optimize new algorithms with vision pipeline simulator
Algorithm and pipeline calibration, IQ validation lab work and documentation
Obtain surgical feedback from clinical development team and iterate into algorithm designs and optimization

Required

Knowledgeable and significant hands-on experience in designing and implementing digital image and video signal processing algorithms
Good knowledge about color science, human perception and image quality metrics
Solid imaging-related physics knowledge and mathematical modeling foundation
Proficient in Matlab, Python and C/C++ algorithm prototyping
Good machine learning knowledge and hands-on experience applying deep learning-based methods to image or video processing problems
Must be currently enrolled in and returning to an accredited degree-seeking academic program after the internship
Must be available to work full-time (approximately 40 hours per week) during a 10-12 week period starting May or June
Current enrollment in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Imaging Science or related degree-seeking program at the Master's, or Doctorate level

Preferred

High dynamic range imaging knowledge and experience, especially tone-mapping algorithms
Experience with PyTorch (preferred) or similar deep learning frameworks for image enhancement or computer vision applications
GPU programming experience with CUDA
Familiar with CMOS image sensor, camera optics, and its signal processing pipeline
