Senior Manufacturing Engineer - CNC Programmer 5 Axis

Confidential company is building a new machine shop to design, cut, and deliver flight-critical hardware at supersonic speed. They are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer - CNC Programmer to develop and optimize CNC programs for 5-axis mills and collaborate with machinists and engineers to ensure high-precision toolpaths.

Responsibilities

Develop, validate, and optimize CNC programs for 5-axis mills, mill-turn, and multi-spindle machines
Prove programs directly at the machine, closing the loop between virtual programming and real-world cutting
Partner closely with machinists, NC programmers, and engineers to translate design intent into efficient, high-precision toolpaths
Establish programming workflows, revision control, and best practices as Boom scales its machining capability
Support rapid prototyping efforts and quickly adapt programs as engineering designs change
Build and maintain tool libraries, workholding strategies, and clear process documentation
Mentor and develop less experienced programmers and machinists, sharing best practices and raising the bar for the entire team

Required

Expert-level CNC programming experience for 5-axis milling and mill-turn equipment
Hands-on proficiency with ESPRIT EDGE, hyperMILL, Mastercam, NX, or CATIA
Strong machining fundamentals: feeds and speeds, chip control, tooling, fixturing, and material behavior
Proven ability to troubleshoot post processors, toolpaths, and machine setup challenges
Experience programming tight-tolerance aerospace or other high-performance components
A collaborative, curious mindset and comfort working shoulder-to-shoulder with machinists and engineers
High ownership, strong work ethic, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment
To comply with U.S. Government aerospace technology export regulations (ITAR and EAR), applicants must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. §1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorization from the U.S. Department of State

Preferred

Experience machining aerospace materials such as titanium, Inconel, and nickel-based superalloys
Background with Mazak machines, virtual machine simulation, and post-processor tuning
Ability to design and implement efficient tool management systems and shop standards
Experience supporting both prototype and production machining environments
Startup or greenfield manufacturing experience, including standing up processes and infrastructure from day one
