Academies of Shakopee Communications and Engagement Coordinator

Shakopee Public Schools is seeking a Communications and Engagement Coordinator for the Academies of Shakopee. This role involves planning and coordinating events, managing partner relations, and supporting communications initiatives to enhance engagement within the community.

Responsibilities

Plan and coordinate signature Academies events (e.g., showcases, partner events, student engagement activities)
Plan event logistics and make day-to-day decisions related to scheduling, space reservations, materials, and follow-up communication in collaboration with district Communications
Collaborate with school staff, students and external partners to ensure events align with Academies goals
Review event participation and feedback and assist with post-event reporting
Identify opportunities to improve event effectiveness and share recommendations with leadership
Support and carry out the Shakopee Chamber of Commerce and district's recruitment plan alongside key leaders (business and community partners for Academies programming)
Maintain and manage partner contact lists, agreements, and engagement records
Assist with partner onboarding, orientation materials, and ongoing communication
Coordinate partner appreciation, recognition efforts, and retention strategies
Support Academies communications projects across various platforms (email, newsletters, website updates, social media support)
Draft, edit, and prepare internal and external communications related to Academies events and partnerships in collaboration with district Communications
Serve as a branding ambassador for the Academies materials
Recommend content ideas, messaging approaches, and engagement opportunities to the Communications team
Manage calendars, timelines, and project plans related to Academies initiatives
Track and review participation data, partner involvement, and program metrics within SchoolLinks (on-the-job training provided) as needed
Maintain organized records, files, and documentation for events and partnerships
Identify efficiencies and suggest process improvements to strengthen partnerships and engagement

Required

Strong written and verbal communication skills
Bachelor's Degree is required, preferably in a related field
Demonstrated ability to use independent judgment in coordinating programs, projects, or initiatives
Creative mindset with the ability to contribute to various communications projects including videos, creative assets and collateral
Demonstrated organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Experience coordinating events, meetings, or programs involving multiple stakeholders
High level of attention to detail and ability to follow through on tasks independently
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive working relationships with internal and external partners
Proficiency with common digital tools and platforms (e.g., Google Workspace or Microsoft Office, social media platforms, Canva, Adobe Suites, email marketing tools, databases). An interest in basic photography/videography and creative compilation tools is encouraged
Ability to travel between Shakopee High School, the District Office, and partner sites
