COLUMBIA Class Propulsion Systems – Shafting Components Engineer
General Dynamics Electric Boat is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic entry level engineer for the COLUMBIA Class Propulsion Systems – Shafting Components. The role involves leading procurement, design, test, analysis, and manufacture efforts for propulsion shafting components, while also collaborating with suppliers and managing component development.
Manufacturing
Responsibilities
Perform engineering calculations in support of component design disclosures
Generate/review engineering drawings and installation procedures
Interface with internal Electric Boat support groups
Preparation of technical correspondence between Electric Boat and suppliers/customer
Review of supplier technical and programmatic submittals
Strong understanding of component and ship specifications
Support testing and troubleshooting for components under test
Frequent interaction with NAVSEA PMS 397, 05, 08 Customer
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of science in Mechanical Engineering
0 to 4 years of post-graduate engineering experience
Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the department of defense
Preferred
Experience in propulsion shafting design
Knowledge of Electric Boat procedures and policies regarding engineering disclosure development
Active DOD Secret Clearance or higher
Strong written and verbal communication skills
