Responsibilities

Lead the design, development and execution of a comprehensive long-term strategy to identify, cultivate and close relationships that advance the number of endowments and planned gift opportunities in support of CHS strategic objectives and priorities, attaining annual fundraising goals as defined
Partner with the CDO and the CHS Foundation Board of Directors in crafting an organizational strategy for foundation growth, endowment expansion and legacy giving, including fundraising goals and objectives
Serve as a senior advisor to the C-Suite and Board on charitable investment trends, gift planning strategies, and revenue forecasting
Identify and facilitate strategic opportunities for prospects to interact with senior CHS executives and board members
Serve as a key member of the Development Leadership Team, collaborating on development strategy, planning and budgeting
Provide learning and idea sharing opportunities with the Development Team; deliver seminars for planned gifts and estate planning
Participate in visioning for development initiatives, revenue diversification and philanthropic growth
Research, identify, cultivate, solicit and steward planned gift prospects through visits, calls, and direct response tools
Cultivate relationships with advisors (wealth influencers), such as attorneys, accountants, financial planners, brokers, and trust officers
Develop Charitable Gift Annuity proposals and contracts; manage matured planned gifts, including the probate process
Create and implement a marketing and education strategy for gift planning, working collaboratively with all fundraising channels, the marketing team, and outside consultants
Partner with the Development Team to build donor pipelines, with a focus on the moves management process
Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., Marketing, Program Management, Communications, etc.) to develop collateral, organize meetings, training and recognition events that maximize impact and visibility for CHS and its foundation
Represent CHS at donor, community and special events, as needed
Oversee the development and execution of campaign strategies, including capital, comprehensive, endowment and special campaigns
Collaborate with Campaign Director in setting and achieving campaign goals, benchmarks, timelines and budgets
Collaborate with Finance to coordinate administration, management and stewardship of endowments, gift annuities and trusts
Monitor and maintain compliance with legal requirements as well as CHS policies and practices regarding risk management, donation processing and financial controls for planned giving and endowments
Use the CRM to document within two business days, staying current with changes while following moves management policy and practices; work closely with the Data Team to track and record gifts and donor records in the CRM system
Steward and prepare regular reports of impact and forecasts to internal and external stakeholders using key account metrics
Recruit and supervise team members, fostering their development, including the transfer of knowledge obtained through training
Establish annual team goals and objectives; track and report results
Coach, support and evaluate team member performance, taking corrective action if needed
Deliver timely communication through regular management and team meetings
Implement policies and practices designed to prevent, recognize and respond to work-related stress
Comply and confirm compliance with the CHS code of conduct, policies, practices and legal obligations
Participate in succession planning to build the bench strength necessary for future talent needs
Develop a strong knowledge base and stay current on job-related issues, best practices, and trends
Participate actively in departmental meetings, training and education, as well as the quality process
Pick up projects on the fly; perform other duties as assigned from time to time

Required

Bachelor's in Business Administration, Marketing, Public Relations, Sales, or related degree from accredited university
Ten plus years of experience in business development, fundraising across multiple channels or planned giving, as well as in leading development and fundraising teams
Demonstrated success in cultivating, soliciting, and closing endowment and planned giving agreements to achieve financial goals

Preferred

Advanced degree or juris doctor
Experience developing and managing large-scale fundraising initiatives, special events, and relationships
Experience developing and managing fundraising initiatives, special events and relationships; including the use of fundraising software and tools
