Planning Engineering Leader

Responsibilities

Provide technical expertise to all aspects of generation interconnection processes and operational requirements
Work closely with ISO’s/Utilities/Regulatory agencies to manage interconnection processes for NextEra facilities
Perform assessment for compliance with new IBR standards such as IEEE 2800, ERCOT NOGRR 245, 255 and other similar requirements
Lead and direct conversations with external and internal stakeholders to ensure the projects are compliant with the new standards
Create and validate PSSE, PSLF and PSCAD models for solar, wind and battery projects
Perform and review steady state, dynamic, short circuit and other power system analyses for renewable facilities
Mentor and supervise junior engineers on modeling and studies related activities ensuring project success
Monitor dynamically changing interconnection requirements from regional agencies and advise stakeholders on the expected impacts
Ensure compliance with regional modeling requirements for new and existing generation projects
Contribute new designs or techniques that others within the industry regard as major advances in their area of expertise
Prepares communications, presentations and conducts meetings
Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required

Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Knowledge of interconnection procedures as defined by ISO's/Utilities/TOs across U.S
Experience with power system analysis tools including PSS/E, PSCAD, Aspen, TSAT and GE PSLF software
Strong understanding of electrical engineering concepts such as power flow, stability, voltage regulation, reactive support etc
Strong organizational and communication skills
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (non-Engineering Technology), OR
Master's degree in Engineering, if the bachelor's degree is not in a pure engineering field
At least one degree (Bachelor's or Master's) must be from an ABET-accredited program
Experience: 6+ years post-Bachelor's degree in engineering
Supervisor/Management Experience: 0+ years

Preferred

Certified Professional Engineer (PE)
Six Sigma Black Belt Certified
Six Sigma Green Belt Certified
Master's Degree
Six Sigma Master Black Belt
