Lien Hearing Representative

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include analyzing bills and liens, assessing fee schedules, and evaluating the merits of each case to determine the appropriate value of charges
Evaluate exposure and develop negotiation strategies to resolve lien claims efficiently, as well as conduct settlement negotiations with lien claimants
Responsible for preparing all necessary pleadings, including DORs, petitions for contribution, objections, and trial briefs. You will work closely with claims examiners and clients to develop effective defense strategies and maintain accurate, timely documentation in the case file (Merus)
Regular status updates and timely hearing reports are required, along with the ability to draft concise, clear analytical reports with recommendations
Maintain a case load of approximately 60-70 files
Addressing Cost Petitions
Maintain a diary system, close 3 to 5 lien files per month, and meet the billing requirement of 180 hours per month (540 hours quarterly)
Responsible for caseload, and making court appearances (virtual and in-person)

Required

Familiarity with legal terminology and documentation
Excellent communication skills and negotiation abilities (verbal and written)
Solid understanding of CA WCAB procedures, medical codes, labor code, UR, SBR, OMFS, MTUS, and EAMS
The ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
Attention to detail
Ability to juggle multiple tasks efficiently with little supervision
Client-focused, with the ability to deliver results
Strong organizational and time management skills
Willing to drive to all boards, and have reliable transportation
Ability to type quickly and accurately
Experienced litigator - must have trial experience

Preferred

Proficiency in word processing software and Merus experience preferred
