Accounting Officer (Specialist)
The California Department of Health Care Access and Information is committed to ensuring healthcare access for all Californians. The Accounting Officer (Specialist) will perform professional accounting duties, including journal entries, travel reimbursements, and financial reporting, while ensuring compliance with state policies.

Responsibilities
Independently performs professional accounting duties of average difficulty which require strong organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills
Performs professional accounting and analytical duties related to journal entries, travel reimbursements, and financial reporting
Responsible for analyzing, auditing, and processing all travel and reimbursement claim transactions utilizing the California Automated Travel Expense Reimbursement System (CalATERS) and The Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal)
Supports the departmental fiscal integrity by ensuring transactions are accurate, timely, compliant with State Administrative Manual (SAM), California Department of Human Resources (CalHR), Department of General Services (DGS), and State Controller’s Office policies

Required
Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment
If you are meeting Minimum Qualifications with education, you must include a copy of your unofficial transcripts and/or license for verification
Official sealed transcripts will be required upon appointment
Applicants must meet the Minimum Qualifications stated in the Classification Specification(s)
Current version of the State Examination/Employment Application STD Form 678 (when not applying electronically), or the Electronic State Employment Application through your Applicant Account at www.CalCareers.ca.gov

A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be submitted along with your application addressing the questions below and following the instruction of the SOQ in order to be considered for this position (Resumes do not take the place of the SOQ)

Describe your experience working with CalATERS and what you used it for
Describe your experience preparing, analyzing, and researching reports containing complex financial data
