Military DoD SkillBridge Program - Test Engineering Technician

GE Aerospace is offering an opportunity through the Military DoD SkillBridge program for Service members to gain civilian work experience in technical roles. The Test Engineering Technician will provide technical assistance in the setup and testing of development engines, coordinating with project teams to ensure operational readiness and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

Interface with external organizations & internal supporting functions; coordinates the efforts of project team members in order to accomplish overall goals
Act as a project leader on specific tasks within the Development Engine Test
Facilitate interaction of staff members with each other and external organizations
Periodically prepare and implement supporting work plans
Coordinate, direct, and coach the activities of project team members
Assist the cell owner, team leader, or manager in planning work activity for the organization
Participate in Cell / Lab Safety Deep Dives & PQA Audits
Responsible for overall safety & operational readiness of the test cells
Defining / Maintaining area Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures and other operating / safety practices and procedures
Support and perform work in compliance to all Environmental, Health, and Safety programs, policies and regulations
Work under limited supervision while being proficient in troubleshooting, testing, assembly, disassembly and performing visual inspections
Periodically prepare and implement supporting work plans to update equipment to enhance test cell capabilities
Execute test on the control console (throttle, slave systems, FTS, A-log)
Perform signal checks / test preparation checks
Participate in Process Improvement projects
Perform inspections on engine and test equipment

Required

Active Military Personnel on their last 180 days of Military Service
Associate's degree in an applicable technical discipline from an accredited school or institution {i.e. Aviation Maintenance, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Technology, Chemical Technology, etc.} Or a high school diploma / GED with two years of work experience in a manufacturing or testing environment

Preferred

A&P License
Strong oral and written communication skills
Effective problem identification and solution skills
Demonstrated initiative
Demonstrated success in a cross-functional team environment
Experience working in a jet engine testing environment
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and schematics
Ability to operate electronic test equipment
