Administrative Specialist I / Instructional Assistant I - Float(MELA) MTMO ($49,896 - $68,272 annually) DOE
Muckleshoot Indian Tribe is seeking an Administrative Specialist I / Instructional Assistant I - Float to provide clerical support and assist in early childhood education. The role requires general clerical duties and instructional support to teachers, ensuring a positive learning environment for students.
Responsibilities
Sort and file paperwork (alphabetical, numerical, by subject, etc.) by rules and directions provided
Receive, label, log, file and retrieve data (Daily Attendance)
Answer telephones, screen calls, respond to inquiries and/or refer callers to appropriate individuals and/or departments
Prepare mailings for distribution and/or processing
Operate office equipment (i.e: copier, adding machine, fax machine, etc.)
Run errands and work on special projects as needed
Assist in the daily care and instruction of children in the early childhood classroom
Assist instructional personnel with the presentation of learning materials and instructional exercises
Assist individual students and small groups of students to reinforce and follow up on learning activities
Supervise students in a variety of educational settings for up to 30-45 minutes each setting
Assist in the preparation of a variety of instructional material and learning aids, for use with individual or small groups of students
Assist lead teacher (by using good judgment) in taking appropriate action to assist injured or physically ill students
Assist in maintaining an orderly, attractive, and positive learning environment
Because of the Tribe’s commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities
Qualification
Required
Graduation from a high school or equivalent with course work in general office practices, and six (6) months of related experience
An Initial Early Childhood Education Certificate or A Child Development (CDA) credential or must be willing to obtain within one (1) year of employment
One (1) year of professional experience working with children in preschool, daycare, or similar setting
Must pass a criminal background check, a drug screen and meet all health and immunization requirements
Must be able to obtain satisfactory results on a pre-employment physical examination, including tuberculosis screening
Effective communication with students, parents or guardians, staff and administrators
Working with children in an understanding, patient, receptive and confident manner
Organizing activities in keeping with the maturity and attention span of assigned students
Following written and oral instructions
Managing student behavior
Using standard office equipment, including personal computer
Basic concepts of child development and developmental behavior characteristics
Basic effective behavior management techniques
Rules and procedures for child/student safety
Read and write
Follow verbal and written instructions
Work with students in a positive and confident manner
Observe safe work practices
Establish and maintain cooperative work relationships
Arrive to work in a timely manner
Attend required training
Maintain confidentiality
A valid Washington State driver's license is required at the time of appointment or at a time set by the Tribe
A valid Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR certificate and Food Handler's permit may be required at the time of appointment or at a time set by the Tribe
