Commissioning Engineer
Cooper Machinery Services provides natural gas compression equipment and services to customers globally in the Oil & Gas, Power, Transportation, and Marine sectors. The Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for commissioning and troubleshooting engines, engine tuning, and upgrades for clients' projects, ensuring the engines meet performance goals and providing technical support during startup and testing phases.

Responsibilities
Must be familiar with the design and operations of reciprocating compressors and internal combustion engines, their sub-assemblies and supporting infrastructure
Must be able to operate exhaust stack emissions monitoring equipment and perform data analysis using Microsoft Excel and similar software packages
Must be able to communicate effectively with internal and external customers during project execution and willingness to support cross-functional teams
Must possess excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
Must possess a strong desire to learn, investigate, and provide technical solutions to upgrade engine equipment for emissions improvement
Must be humble, willing to accept responsibility, and work to find solutions to complex technical issues
Qualification
Required
Education and Experience: The ideal candidate will have an Engineering Degree, Trade School Training or be a graduate of a Technical School with the combined an in-depth technical aptitude on engines and engine tuning. Relevant certifications or training in commissioning or engine tuning will be considered a plus
Technical Knowledge: Strong technical expertise in engines, engine tuning, and upgrades, including understanding of mechanical, electrical, and control systems. Familiarity with different types of engines and their performance characteristics, as well as experience with tuning and calibrating engines for optimal performance
Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues related to engines, engine tuning, and upgrades. Proficient in using diagnostic tools, software, and equipment to troubleshoot and repair engine systems. Analytical mindset to identify root causes of issues and implement effective solutions
Commissioning Experience: Prior experience in commissioning engines or other mechanical systems is highly desirable. Familiarity with commissioning procedures, protocols, and documentation
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with clients, team members, and other stakeholders. Ability to prepare and present technical reports and documentation
Safety Awareness: Understanding of safety regulations and protocols related to commissioning and working with engines. Ability to follow safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe work environment
Team Player: Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Willingness to support team members and contribute to a positive work environment
Flexibility and Adaptability: Ability to work in fast-paced environments and adapt to changing project requirements and priorities. Willingness to travel to client sites as needed for commissioning activities
Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to identify and resolve technical issues and challenges that may arise during commissioning activities
Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail to ensure accurate and precise commissioning and calibration of engines and engine systems
Professionalism: Professional demeanor with a customer service-oriented approach. Ability to represent the company in a professional manner with clients and stakeholders
Valid Driver's License: Possession of a valid driver's license and the ability to travel to client sites as needed
