VP - Quality Control
Novus Home Mortgage is seeking a Vice President of Quality Control responsible for the design, execution, and governance of the Company’s Quality Control Program. This role ensures loan quality and regulatory compliance across the mortgage lifecycle through risk-based testing and oversight.

Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and periodically update the Company’s Quality Control Plan to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements and agency guidelines, including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, and Ginnie Mae
Manage the day-to-day operations of the Quality Control Department, including staffing, performance management, goal setting, training, career development, hiring, and disciplinary actions
Develop and implement policies, procedures, and methodologies governing pre-fund, post-close, servicing, targeted, and ad-hoc quality control reviews
Establish and maintain risk-based sampling methodologies, incorporating data analytics, trend analysis, product risk, channel risk, vendor performance, and regulatory focus areas
Supervise internal and external quality control audits and reviews, including oversight of third-party QC vendors
Review quality control findings, perform or oversee root-cause analysis, and ensure corrective action plans are developed, implemented, tracked, and validated for effectiveness
Monitor and assess investor overlays, selling guide changes, handbooks, and issuer requirements to ensure QC practices remain current and aligned
Serve as an escalation point for material quality, compliance, fraud, or operational risk issues, with authority to elevate concerns to senior management and appropriate committees
Refer suspected fraud or misrepresentation matters for investigation in accordance with Company policy
Act as a liaison between the Company and third-party auditors, regulators, and investors for matters related to quality control
Coordinate and support regulatory examinations, investor audits, and issuer reviews related to loan quality and QC governance
Oversee the operational risk event management process as it relates to loan quality, including data collection, analysis of significant events, trend identification, and remediation oversight
Prepare and deliver regular quality control reporting, including trend analysis and key risk indicators, to senior management and designated management and Board-level committees, including quarterly Board reporting
Establish and monitor performance metrics for the Quality Control function and ensure continuous improvement initiatives are implemented and sustained
Liaise with first, second, and third lines of defense (including Underwriting, Servicing, Compliance, Third-Party Risk Management, and Internal Audit) to address quality issues and prevent recurrence
Assist Compliance and other control functions as needed in support of regulatory, investor, and risk management objectives
Liaise with 2nd and 3rd lines of defense teams (e.g., Underwriting, Third Party Risk Management, Compliance, etc.) on quality issues and action steps to correct or prevent
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree preferred
Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in mortgage lending quality control, audit, risk management, compliance, or a related discipline, including management experience
Strong understanding of mortgage regulatory frameworks and agency requirements, including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, and Ginnie Mae
Experience working with regulators and investors such as the FDIC, HUD/FHA, VA, GSEs, Ginnie Mae, and/or state regulatory agencies
Demonstrated ability to lead investigations, conduct interviews, and evaluate complex issues using sound judgment and professional skepticism
Ability to synthesize and communicate complex information clearly in both written and verbal formats
Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive or privileged information
Strong leadership, analytical, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments
Ability to communicate complex regulatory and quality concepts in plain language
