Purchasing Assistant Manager - St. Cloud, MN

The Purchasing Assistant Manager will perform operational purchasing duties under the supervision of the Purchasing Manager, assisting with procurement activities and ensuring compliance with procurement policies.

Package/Freight Delivery

Responsibilities

Create, issue, and follow up on purchase orders per approval limits
Communicate with vendors to confirm pricing, ETA, backorders, and delivery arrangements
Track order status and escalate issues per standard procedures
Ensure accuracy of order documentation before submission
Monitor inventory levels by terminal/warehouse and flag reorder points
Maintain purchasing records and support inventory audits
Assist with cycle counts, reporting discrepancies to supervisor
Help reconcile purchase orders to invoices
Support review of budget vs. actual spend and provide variance data to Purchasing Manager
Provide vendor cost matrix updates as directed
Coordinate inbound deliveries to terminals and maintenance sites
Support internal teams (operations, maintenance, safety) with purchasing inquiries
Arrange expedited purchases when authorized within set thresholds
Train or assist new purchasing clerks on systems and procedures
Ensure compliance with procurement policies and safety protocols
Perform other related duties as assigned

Required

Ability to assist in supervising or coordinating purchasing and warehouse staff as needed
Capable of training team members on purchasing and inventory procedures
Thorough understanding of OSHA and safety regulations
Thorough understanding of applicable federal, state, local and company safety policies
Excellent written and oral communication skills
At least 21 years of age
High school diploma or equivalent required
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively and up to 100 pounds occasionally
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to work with all types of freight
Must be able to pass a criminal background check

Preferred

Associate's degree in Business Management, Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred
1+ years of experience in the automotive or parts industry preferred
