Responsibilities

Lead a team in the design, execution and management of a comprehensive multi-year development strategy that secures a team revenue goal annually to support the advancement of CHS strategic objectives and priorities
Lead and manage the team of Managing Directors of Area Development
Serve as a key member of the Development Leadership Team, collaborating on development strategy, planning and budgeting, as well as in driving year-over-year revenue growth
Develop and implement a multi-year comprehensive plan for fundraising events in partnership with VP, Special Events
Train, mentor and supervise a high performing development team; ensure they follow development best practices, stay on benchmarks and remain focused on key performance indicators
Provide continual learning and idea sharing opportunities among the Development Team
Participate in visioning for development initiatives, revenue diversification and philanthropic growth
Develop and execute a three-year strategic plan
Co-lead fundraising, including donor stewardships, special events, planned giving, grants, endowments and corporate partnerships
Lead the Development Team in creating partnerships that help grow opportunities beyond traditional events and sponsorships
Partner with Development Team colleagues to build pipelines of donors, enhancing focus on the moves management process to increase the speed of donor solicitation and closed/won gifts
Manage a portfolio of 20+ high net worth donors and prospects, in collaboration with Major Gifts; support donor cultivation events and engagement initiatives
Lead the management of D.W. Comstock Recognition Society donors and grow overall donor base for the Society
Support board recruitment and relationship management
Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g. Operations Management, Communications, Data Services, etc.) to develop collateral that maximizes impact and visibility for both CHS
Attend sponsored and other events to build and deepen relationships with prospective and current donors and other key constituents
Represent CHS at donor, community and special events, as needed
Collaborate with Finance to coordinate administration, management and stewardship of donations and annual giving
Monitor and maintain compliance with CHS policies and practices regarding risk management, donation processing and financial controls
Work closely with the Data Team to track and record gifts and donor records in the CRM system
Use the CRM to document within 2 business days, staying current with changes while following moves management policy and practices
Steward and prepare regular reports of impact and forecasts to internal and external stakeholders using key account metrics
Recruit, develop and lead a team capable of supporting CHS performance and growth strategies (complying with COA Standard T3, when appropriate), while fostering an engaging, positive work environment
Recruit and supervise team members, fostering their development, including the transfer of knowledge obtained through training
Establish annual team goals and objectives; track and report results
Coach, support and evaluate team member performance, taking corrective action if needed
Deliver timely communication through regular management and team meetings
Implement policies and practices designed to prevent, recognize and respond to work-related stress
Comply and confirm compliance with the CHS code of conduct, policies, practices and legal obligations
Participate in succession planning to build the bench strength necessary for future talent needs
Develop a strong knowledge base and stay current on job-related issues, best practices, and trends
Participate actively in departmental meetings, training and education, as well as the quality process
Pick up projects on the fly; perform other duties as assigned from time to time

Required

Bachelor's in Business Administration, Marketing, Public Relations, Sales, or related degree from accredited university
Ten plus years of experience in business development or fundraising across multiple channels, as well as in leading fundraising teams
Demonstrated success in cultivating and closing $500,000+ in donations and/or gifts

Preferred

Experience developing and managing large-scale fundraising initiatives, special events, and relationships
Experience in the use of fundraising software and tools
