People & Culture Intern

City of Seattle is seeking interns for its People and Culture business unit, specifically within Employee Relations, Performance and Policy, and Systems & Analytics teams. Interns will engage in various projects related to data analytics, performance evaluation systems, and digital transformation initiatives that enhance the employee experience.

Responsibilities

Co-create and support WEE programs, events, and services
Compile and analyze data to make recommendations on the employee experience
Engage with stakeholders and customers to understand program needs
Engage in activities to learn more about the human resources field
Collecting data in a meaningful way and helping us to analyze it to identify trends within our workgroup that will be used to further support our ten year strategic plan regarding workplace culture
Data collection of both our investigatory work and our ADA/Leave work
Analyzing data to help us identify trends and patterns we have not identified
Creating processes that we can maintain going forward to help us better understand our culture with real time metrics
Conduct research and analysis of performance evaluation systems in a Utility setting and participate in developing updates to our evaluation program
Contribute to building resources and tools for our performance website, as well as analysis and recommendations for user experience and accessibility
Participate in the development of training materials and communication plan for performance program updates
Finalizing Workforce Data Hub pages and channels to improve accessibility and usability of workforce-related information
Developing an internal-facing SCL HUB page that consolidates key resources for City Light employees
Supporting digitalization and automation efforts for Out-of-Class Assignments, BID positions, and Staffing Change processes
Assisting with documentation, workflow mapping, requirements gathering, and quality checks for new or updated systems

Required

Enrolled in an accredited certificate, 2-year or 4-year undergraduate educational program during their internship
Undergraduate students will need to maintain a 2.0 GPA or above throughout the internship

Willingness to learn and use new technology
Advanced spreadsheet knowledge
MS Suite
Power Apps and Power Automate
Are a sophomore, junior, or senior at the start of the internship
Data gathering and summarization experience

Preferred

Enrolled in an academic program with focus on Human Resources, Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Public Affairs, Sociology, Human Services, Data Management, Management Information Systems, Statistics, Public Administration, Organizational Psychology, or related field
