Component Engineer II - Aerospace

Responsibilities
Provide Mechanical and Electrical Engineering expertise in designing, testing, maintaining and improving components or products
Strong technical skills in solving problems using a combination of analysis, experience and precedents
Manage project documentation, analyzes data and creates reports
Create Engineering Change Notices for component changes for design improvements, obsolescence changes, source changes, corrections, and other reasons for change
Create documentation required by customers for engineering changes, and other documentation for production stop orders until change approved, limited production documentation, release of stop orders, etc., as required
For supplied products, review change proposals and plans from suppliers, participate in design reviews and provide feedback, review qualification test results, and support configuration management change documentation
Create component specifications based on customer and systems requirements
Communicate technical information and project status to others in a clear and effective manner
Use independent judgment to evaluate and solve technical problems
Create environmental test objectives impacted by design changes required to support the change is substantiated, balance with use of analysis or similarity
Support production and quality team members regarding technical questions (drawing dimensions or intent, tear down reports for returns, etc.)
Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
Recommend cost reduction efforts for components, which may involve ideas from component design changes to reducing and streamlining production acceptance testing
Participate in Kaizen improvement and continuous improvement efforts
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to travel to suppliers, both domestic and international, as necessary
Qualification
Required
Bachelor degree in Engineering
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through 2-3 years of related experience
Has working knowledge of engineering domain principles and techniques, product functionality, industry practices, regulations, and policies. Hydraulics and valve design experience a plus
General knowledge of other related engineering and technical areas
Proficient with engineering design and analysis tools (e.g., computer-aided design or modeling systems); ability to use standard software packages
Ability to work with general objectives regarding projects and team goals; applies judgment in selecting procedures and techniques that should be applied. Works collaboratively in a team environment
Ability to effectively communicate status, actions, recommendations, and other technical information with clarity and precision. Responsive to inquiries from other engineering and business teams
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and MS Project
