Director of IT Systems and Support
The Christman Company is a leading national general contractor seeking a Director of IT Systems & Support for their Lansing, MI Headquarters office. This role involves providing vision and strategic leadership for IT systems and operations, overseeing enterprise technology initiatives, and ensuring alignment with business objectives.

Responsibilities
Lead and manage IT Systems Administrator staff, ensuring operational efficiency and team development
Oversee LAN/WAN networking and enterprise-wide internet connectivity
Manage cloud-based and on-premises servers, SaaS applications, and data storage
Ensure performance and availability of email, Teams, SharePoint, and databases
Oversee cybersecurity risk management including firewalls, penetration testing, audits, policies, email risk mitigation, data protection, employee training, and access control
Develop and test business continuity and disaster recovery plans
Supervise deployment, installation, support, and maintenance of IT systems
Design and maintain structures such as Active Directory
Ensure system uptime and security through proactive monitoring and maintenance
Plan and execute departmental projects
Lead and manage IT support/helpdesk staff
Develop and enforce SOPs for helpdesk ticket handling, escalation, and resolution
Manage user accounts and groups, including onboarding and terminations
Oversee procurement, logistics, and hardware disposal
Maintain accurate inventory of technology assets
Manage project and subsidiary billing processes
Create and deploy standard system images
Provide IT support for project site setup and ongoing operations
Mentor and develop team members
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and technical excellence
Establish, forecast, and track departmental budgets
Assist in managing software and system licenses
Support the VP of IT in developing departmental strategy and vision
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, computer information systems, or related field
Minimum 10 years of IT experience and 3 years of people management experience within an IT department
Or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Expertise with the Microsoft 365 ecosystem and cybersecurity practices
Preferred
MBA or Master's degree in a related field or comparable work experience/IT certifications
15+ years of IT experience and 5+ years in IT management
Project management training
Understanding of the Construction industry or related field (engineering, architectural, subcontracting)
