Assistant Director, Financial Aid (Student Financial Support)
Inside Higher Ed is seeking an Assistant Director for Financial Aid to engage with students and ensure their financial aid renewal and retention. Responsibilities
Develop and implement events and programming to engage with students, and to help ensure the on-time renewal of financial aid and retention of students
Conduct financial literacy workshops/trainings, financial aid workshops, and other virtual and on-campus events
Serve as liaison to the StarFish early warning team, student life, and academic advising for students identified as having financial difficulties
Collaborate with campus partners, such as the Center for Student Success and the Student Outreach and Support team, to extend our reach, impact, and network of support for vulnerable students
Run reports and queries to identify students with complex financial aid processing issues and identify methods to increase efficiency and visibility
Conduct targeted outreach to vulnerable populations, such as students in need of Enhanced Loan Counseling, students selected for federal verification, and those with academic performance issues that affect eligibility for aid
Review and monitor workflow processing queues to help facilitate the highest levels of customer service possible
Advise students on financial aid eligibility, application procedures, and various financial aid programs. Respond to student inquiries in-person, via phone, text, and email
Direct management of federal financial aid programs (such as Satisfactory Academic Progress and Federal Verification), including oversight and review of financial aid exception reports to ensure compliance, accuracy, and timely resolution of discrepancies
Maintain current knowledge of federal Title IV regulations, state rules, and institutional policies pertaining to financial aid
Other job-related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Ability to participate in virtual meetings, receive and make phone calls, and attend required in-person meetings, workshops, and conferences

Functional experience with PowerFAIDs
Salesforce or other CRM applications
Knowledge of Institutional Methodology (IM)
Working knowledge of Title IV regulations
Ability to manage multiple workflows with varying deadlines
Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where expectations for performance and productivity are high
Bachelor's Degree
One-year related experience
Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula
