Actuarial Analyst I

L.A. Care Health Plan is the nation’s largest publicly operated health plan, created to provide health coverage to low-income Los Angeles County residents. The Actuarial Analyst I supports financial reporting, forecasting, and regulatory filings while developing analytical skills and industry knowledge.

Responsibilities

Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, budgeting and audit processes, including reserve calculations for claims and risk corridors
Analyze claims and enrollment data to identify trends and provide actionable insights
Collaborate with other Actuarial team members
Perform data validation and quality checks to ensure the accuracy of actuarial analyses
Document methodologies, assumptions, and results in a clear and organized manner
Contribute to regulatory filings and compliance reports as needed
Assist in ad hoc data analyses as needed
Develop understanding of industry trends, regulatory changes, and actuarial best practices
Perform Other Duties As Assigned

Qualification

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science or Related Field
No experience required
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Completion of at least 1 actuarial exam

Preferred

Internship or academic experience involving actuarial work, data analysis, or healthcare finance is a plus
Experience with SQL, SAS, VBA, R, Python, or other data analysis tools is desirable
Completion of at least 2 actuarial exams
