The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is dedicated to improving outcomes for all public-school students in Texas. They are seeking a Programmer IV for the Texas PK-16 Public Education Information Resource (TPEIR) to perform complex programming, systems analysis, and data analysis work for the TPEIR data warehouse, supporting the agency's mission through data warehousing tasks and report development.

Education

Responsibilities

Completion of STM tasks including technical documentation
Completion of TPEIR Data Warehouse data loads, analysis, and quality assurance tasks
Creation, maintenance, updating and testing TPEIR education web reports
Technical documentation of data, STMs, business rules, requirements and processes
Completion of data requests and special projects including those requested by agency management or in collaboration with other agency divisions

Required

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university
At least four (4) years of experience in computer programming, data warehousing, testing and QA, creating requirements specifications, report creation, performing systems or data analysis work, experience using SQL and Excel are required

Preferred

Share the belief that all Texas students can achieve at high levels and are able to succeed in college, career, or the military
Experience using SAS for data analysis and reporting
Strong background in documenting requirements, business rules, and user help information
Proficiency with Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Office products
Familiarity with state educational data sources, including PEIMS, Texas higher education data, and STAAR
Meticulous attention to detail with an ability to produce high-quality work in a dynamic environment
Ability to systematically analyze programs and data systems in-depth and propose/implement appropriate solutions
Ability to develop expertise in the state's educational data systems, including PEIMS and STAAR
Ability to engage in a collaborative, results-oriented team environment
Strong project management skills
Highly organized; ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at once and meet deadlines
A desire to self-reflect, give/receive feedback and continuously improve
Ability to break down complex information into comprehensive parts, ask questions, synthesize and analyze
