Research Tech

Indiana University is seeking a highly motivated Research Technician to support ongoing research in mirror-image nucleic acids for next-generation therapeutic technologies. The role involves performing molecular biology experiments and collaborating closely with the principal investigator and lab trainees on high-impact research projects.

Responsibilities

Contributes to projects involving L-RNA/L-DNA nanomedicine, RNA aptamer selection, and the structural and chemical biology of nucleic acids
Performs Routine Molecular biology experiments (PCR, DNA/RNA purification, gel electrophoresis)
Cell cultures (mammalian cell lines) and transfection
Assists with nanoparticle assembly and characterization
Supports general laboratory organization and reagent preparation
Collaborates closely with the PI and lab trainees on ongoing research projects
Performs a wide variety of complex experiments and reports results
Keeps organized analytical data of performed experiments
Provides support for equipment maintenance as needed
Acts as a liaison to students and laboratory personnel for training
Maintains laboratory supply requisition and management
May train junior-level staff
May help plan experiments or short-term goals

Required

Bachelor's degree in science or related field
Proficient communication skills
Maintains a high degree of professionalism

Highly thorough and dependable

Preferred

Masters degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field
Experience with cell culture or nucleic acid work is a plus
Strong attention to detail and good record-keeping
Ability to learn new techniques quickly
