Senior Grants and Contracts Accountant

Responsibilities
Prepare sponsored agency reconciliations, financial reports, letters of credit draws, and invoicing for grants and contracts
Monitor financial reports and expenditures of current grants, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions
Administer grants and contracts in compliance with institutional policies, federal regulations, and donor stipulations
Serve as a subject matter expert in grants management and compliance
Prepare monthly and quarterly Federal Financial Reports (SF-425) and other sponsor-required reports
Develop and enhance fiscal reporting and analysis tools for ad hoc financial monitoring
Prepare detailed listings of all grants and required reports, including budget amendments
Perform quarterly reviews of grant billings and reconcile payment discrepancies promptly
Follow up with granting agencies on delinquent invoices and maintain an accurate ‘Schedule of Grants Receivable’
Assist with annual grant renewals or new funding requests, including budget preparation
Implement and maintain internal controls and procedures for grant accounting to ensure compliance with Uniform Guidance and applicable laws
Develop and maintain a database of grant financial documentation for compliance purposes
Collaborate with program managers and stakeholders to develop grant budgets and provide financial expertise
Assist with the preparation of audit schedules and documentation related to grants
Conduct detailed cost analyses to ensure expenditures align with strategic priorities and grant agreements
Perform analysis, monitoring, and reconciliation of grant receivables, payables, encumbrances, and expenditures
Prepare audit schedules and expenditure reports for SEFA , CAFR , and state annual financial reports
Serve as contact for Single Audit and work with external auditors on local/state/federal audits
Provide internal technical assistance to grant accountants and act as lead on special grant projects
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field from a regionally accredited college or university
3–5 years of experience in grants and contracts administration, financial analysis
Knowledge of fund accounting principles and compliance with federal and state regulations
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Preferred
CRA certification strongly preferred
Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in grant accounting
Experience with accounting (Banner, Workday) and advanced Excel skills
Strong general ledger experience and familiarity with transactional accounting processes
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across teams
