Responsibilities
Lead biological engineering projects focused on development of next-generation viral vectors
Create and deploy high throughput cellular and molecular screening systems to identify novel capsids
Develop and implement quantitative in vitro cellular and molecular assays to characterize lead candidates
Support viral vector projects, including transfection, transduction, viral titering, and sequencing-based characterization of viral genomes
Implement advanced molecular biology methods to design and build high diversity viral vector libraries
Design, optimize, and execute molecular biology workflows, including DNA/RNA extraction, cloning and PCR/qPCR/ddPCR
Prepare Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) libraries (Illumina, Nanopore, PacBio) and perform quality measurements (qubit, tape station)
Perform cell culture with mammalian cell lines and primary cells
Conduct protein and nucleic acid analyses, including western blotting, ELISA, and immunoprecipitation
Document protocols, write reports, and present findings to cross-disciplinary teams
Contribute to laboratory operations, including training of junior staff and maintenance of high-quality research standards
Qualification
Required
PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology or related field; or MS with 4+ years of hands-on research experience
Strong background in advanced molecular biology methods including cloning and recombinant DNA technologies (DNA/RNA extraction, primer/probe design, PCR/qPCR/ddPCR, Gibson Assembly, Golden Gate etc.)
Experience with viral vector engineering (large library preparation and screening)
Proficiency in NGS technologies (Illumina, Nanopore, PacBio), library preparation, and quality assessment (qubit, tape station)
Hands-on experience with viral systems, including transfection, transduction and characterization of viral genomes
Experience with mammalian cell culture including primary cells
Familiarity with protein characterization methods (western blotting, ELISA, IP) a plus
Proficiency with Python and bioinformatics pipelines preferred
Proven track record in method development, including experimental design, optimization, execution, and evaluation
Strong written and oral communication skills are required
Applicants should be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to multi-task with multiple projects
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills a must
