Responsibilities
Lead implementation of BI and AI-enhanced initiatives that identify profitable growth opportunities and optimize portfolio performance across Vistra's retail energy and customer markets, directly influencing pricing strategies and customer acquisition and retention initiatives
Own end-to-end BI solution development utilizing Python, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, generative BI tools, or other programming languages to build executive dashboards and operational reports that enable stakeholders to make faster, data-driven decisions
Translate complex energy usage, pricing, customer profile and behavior data into clear, actionable recommendations for Pricing, Portfolio Management, Finance, Marketing, and Customer Experience teams and channels
Lead in-depth descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analysis of portfolio performance and uncover root causes for trends in channel gains, portfolio and customer lifecycle losses, transactional margin performance, portfolio and product mix outcomes, turning findings into automated alerts and strategic action plans
Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry best practices in BI
Lead evaluation and implementation of AI-enhanced BI platforms including generative analytics tools that enable natural language data exploration, automated insight surfacing, and predictive recommendations for business stakeholders
Provide thought leadership and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation and collaboration
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years (or Master's with 3+ years, or equivalent 8+ years) of professional experience in data analysis or a related field
Extensive experience in analyzing large volumes of data using Python, SQL, SAS, R or similar programming languages
Experience collaborating with data engineering and data science teams to define requirements, integrate ML model outputs into BI dashboards, and navigate ambiguous business problems
Experience using Power BI or Tableau for data visualization
Demonstrated expertise building production dashboards in Power BI or Tableau for executives and audience personas across the organization
Solid understanding of financial modeling and investment analysis (ROI, CLV)
Strategic thinker who balances analytical rigor with business pragmatism, excelling in cross-functional collaboration with business and technical stakeholders
Familiarity with AI/ML concepts applied to business analytics including predictive modeling, supervised/unsupervised learning, feature engineering, and model interpretation for business stakeholders
Preferred
Exposure to GenBI and the ability to build it from the ground up
Exposure to and hands-on experience with generative BI/AI-enhanced analytics tools (e.g. Power BI Copilot, Tableau Pulse, or similar platforms) including natural language query design and automated insight configuration preferred
Web analytics experience with working knowledge of web analytics tools such as Adobe or Google Analytics
Hands-on experience designing and analyzing A/B tests and multivariate experiments to optimize pricing strategies, marketing campaigns, and customer experience initiatives
