Mechanical / Electrical Application Engineer – Thermal Heat Trace Specialist - Inside Sales
Eastern Controls, Inc. is a family-owned manufacturer’s representative providing process control solutions. The Thermal Application Engineer will support sales of electrical heat trace products by assisting customers with sizing, selection, and troubleshooting while ensuring orders are processed accurately and promptly.

Responsibilities
Partner closely with customers/end users, and inside and outside sales teams, guiding them in sizing, selection, value engineering, troubleshooting, and industry best practices, while ensuring our solutions meet application requirements
Process customer-focused orders for thermal heat trace products and supports quotation by promptly evaluating incoming RFQs for realistic product lead times and completeness and recommends standard product options using principals’ sizing and quoting tools
Build thermal heat trace technical product knowledge, follows established quoting and CRM processes, and delivers a high-quality customer experience while escalating complex design or engineering issues to senior specialists
Provide exceptional customer service by ensuring orders are processed accurately within 24 hours and adequate documentation on all open support tickets; maintaining regular written and verbal communication to increase customer touches and keep stakeholders informed; providing clear and timely quotes with specifications, standard startup options, and delivery timelines
Own assigned tasks in the sales cycle from inquiry through order entry, ensuring accurate data entry and documentation; Processes customer orders accurately and coordinates with logistics for standard delivery timelines; Monitors order status and provides routine updates to customers and internal teams
Prepare quote details that ensure accurate pricing and gathers background on previous transactions to help reduce unnecessary discounts and risks
Proactively sell by identifying and flagging simple cross-sell or up-sell opportunities to outside sales for follow up
Assist in preparing bid specifications and complete bid packages as assigned
Become proficient using our CRM and will keep it current by following established standards and regularly entering and maintaining customer inquiries, quotes, and order records
Follow ECI and principal standard operating procedures for quoting and order execution
Ensure quotes and order paperwork conforms to company policy and escalates terms or PO risks to management
Consider ECI stock availability and standard order types when preparing quotes and consults with senior staff on cost-effective options
Achieve exceptional performance in the above area will result in promotion to Thermal AS2, Project Leader, or potentially an Inside or Outside Sales position
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or Associate degree in a technical field (Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering)
Technical certificate programs, bootcamps, or trade school with relevant coursework and demonstrable practical work are equally acceptable
Must have strong, fast and efficient problem solving skills
Must be computer literate with a strong working knowledge of email communication, search engines (Google) and Microsoft Office
Must have strong listening skills, technical communications and organizational skills
Must have strong ability and desire to learn ECI products and services
You must live within a comfortable commuting distance (within an hour max) from our headquarters in Edgemont, PA

Preferred
CAD skills/experience is a major plus
Familiarity with CRM platforms is desirable
Hands-on technical experience (field tech, commissioning tech, instrumentation technician) all major pluses
CAD: 1 year (Preferred)
