Sr. Instrumentation and Controls Engineer (35035)

Responsibilities
You’ll be accountable for schedule and technical quality of challenging engineering tasks, as you gain familiarity with the client’s expectations, scope, budget, and schedule
You’ll also provide on-site assistance during startup, coordinate work activities with other staff members and the discipline lead
Your multi-discipline, highly interactive team will produce designs for electrical circuits and panels utilizing control applications, designs for control systems for a variety of industrial processes and develop options and optimizations for all aspects of the process control, instrumentation, automation, fire alarm and gas detection
You’ll also have the chance to utilize your technical expertise to mentor other professionals, helping your team discover what drives them, nurturing their purpose and guiding them forward
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
At least 20 years of experience working with Instrumentation and Control
Working knowledge of PLC, DCS, SCADA, paging, power monitoring, security and other low voltage controls applications and deliverables such as P&IDs and instrument tagging
Working knowledge of Fire Alarm, HPM and gas detection systems
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Virginia or ability to obtain within 3 months
Working knowledge of PLC, DCS, and other controls applications
Solid knowledge and application to NFPA 70 National Electrical Code
Solid knowledge and application to NFPA 72 National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code
Solid knowledge and application of UL508A panel standards
Solid knowledge in practice and procedures for specification and selection of all types of instrumentation equipment and components
Experience reviewing vendor submittal packages against client requirements and specifications
In-field experience interacting with subcontractors and construction personnel
Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams
Preferred
At least 5 years of experience as a facility engineer with cleanroom environment
Ability to set policy and procedure development, internally and external client focused
Ability and desire to train, teach and mentor junior staff in procedures, policy, standards, career development
Desire to lead and manage a cohesive staff team
Proficient working knowledge of design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks or BIM360 (Building Information Modeling)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and leadership experience
Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams
