The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) is a non-profit Tribal health organization focused on the health needs of Alaska Native and American Indian people. Responsibilities

Safeguard assets and reinforces accounting policies and procedures
Perform detailed analysis of financial and transactional data to ensure accuracy
Assist in the month-end close, including the preparation and review of financial statements
Assist with various audits, including the year-end financial audit, retirement audits and annual single audit
Ensure the integrity of financial and statistical data, via preparation and/or review of general ledger entries, reports, schedules, worksheets, reconciliations, or other analysis as needed
Provide accounting support to internal and external customers, acting as an accounting resource to others
Comply with the regulatory standards, policies and procedures of accounting
Prepare loan covenant compliance certificates and related calculations
Assist with the preparation of annual secretary of state registrations, as required
Perform other duties as assigned
Participate in the monthly close process ensuring accurate and timely data entry and reporting. Gather non-audit and tax-related information (e.g., census data, escheat, board payment data) as needed
Handle tax-related government mail, notices, and disseminate them accordingly
Organize folders and ensure proper data storage for audit and tax purposes
Prepare general audit and tax spreadsheets for review
Prepare audit compliance forms and audit confirmation reports to external parties for review and signature
Schedule and coordinate meetings between external auditors and internal stakeholders
Stay up to date with all federal statutes surrounding generally accepted accounting principles, generally accepted auditing standards, and IRS guidelines pertaining to the operation of not-for-profit entities
Prepare or facilitates the preparation of balance sheet and income statement schedules for the audit and tax return
Prepare payroll and census reconciliation for retirement plan audits
Collaborating with internal stakeholders to gather needed documents or information for audits, tax return and other agency-related requests
Support the timely monthly preparation of consolidated financial statements
Research audit and tax issues
Communicate directly with state and federal agencies to resolve accounting and tax-related issues or concerns
Assist with timely monthly preparation and review of consolidated financial statements
Assist with and reviews the timely filing of tax forms ensuring compliance with all relevant deadlines
Assist with and reviews the preparation of audit schedules
Respond promptly and thoroughly to requests for information from internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, regulatory bodies, and senior management
Participate in internal trainings, workshops, or presentations as requested to improve team knowledge and maintain compliance standards
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's Degree with a major in Accounting, Finance or a related field
Knowledge of accounting principles and audit standards generally accepted in the United States, practices and application
Willingness to share thoughts, recommendations, and concerns
Proficiency in computer software applications such as Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word, and other Office and/or virtual conferencing applications as required
Must be detail-oriented, curious, and keen to dig into numbers and variances to propose recommendations and drive improved results
Knowledge of research, analysis, and reporting methods
Knowledge of Alaska Tribal Health System, ANTHC, and Alaska Native culture(s)
Ability to respond with flexibility to changing deadlines
