Assistant Transportation Engineer
The Maine Department of Transportation is seeking an Assistant Transportation Engineer to perform entry-level professional services and scientific work in engineering. The role involves reviewing plans for transportation projects, conducting studies of traffic patterns, and evaluating transportation systems to ensure compliance with engineering standards.

Responsibilities
Review preliminary and final plans for transportation and public works projects in order to determine compliance with engineering standards and project specifications
Conduct studies of traffic patterns or environmental conditions to identify engineering problems and assess potential project impact
Evaluate transportation systems, traffic control devices, or lighting systems in order to determine the need for modification and/or expansion or to design, communicate, and implement traffic control plans and devices on individual projects
Qualification
Required
A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or closely related field
non-engineering college graduates and non-degreed candidates must possess a Certification of Engineer-Intern as issued by the State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers
