Responsibilities

Function as the Education Administrator for the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium (SAUSHEC) Neurology Residency/Neurology Clerkship Programs
Assist the Program Director in managing the residency program by providing technical and administrative support in the areas of accreditation, program requirements, and academic records
Responsible for completion of all evaluations and record keeping including analysis of block rotation issues affecting the residency program; prepares letter of agreements used for rotations and ensures residents are properly credentialed
Monitors availability of two annual in-service tests – the Neurology Resident In-service Training Examination (NRITE) and the Electrodiagnostic Self-Assessment Examination (EDXSAE)
Independently maintains the ABPN PreCert database, a credentialing system monitoring neurology residents’ training rotation, clinical skills exam, etc. throughout residency
Independently performs complex office automation duties requiring different approaches and methods from one assignment to another; develops procedures for office automation tasks and solves problems in existing methods or procedures
Prepares and processes all TDY and OCONUS/PTDY leaves for director, associate program director and residents, which requires a detailed working knowledge of the Defense Travel System (DTS) and internal policies regarding OCONUS and PTDY absences
Input resident duty hours in the Defense Military Health System (DMHRSi) database; Monitors resident duty hours entered in New Innovation Residency Suite (NI) for regulatory compliance
Analyzes data and/or trends to determine if residents have conducted the established number and type of procedures, submitted supporting documentation, and achieved competency levels

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation
A Personnel Security Investigation is required
Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption
Moderate to heavy lifting up to 20 pounds may be required
Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position
Qualified typist is required (40 wpm)
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing automated systems to perform administrative functions; providing technical and/or clerical support to staff in day-to-day residency program functions and resolve routine problems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06)
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06)
Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration
You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship
One year trial/probationary period may be required
